Cooperation between Brazil and European Union can improve trade of foods

In the next two years, agricultural federal district attorney of the Ministry of the Agriculture, Livestock and Provisioning (Map) will be trained in the diagnosis of diseases, curses,  diseases and pollutants in the same molds that the European technicians of the Management-general of Health and Protection of the Consumer (DG-Sanco). The training is part of the actions of the Project of European Union Cooperation - Mercosul, for the harmonization of norms and veterinary and sanitary procedures differentiated in the South American block. The measures will also be valid for Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay.   
  
The actions for the biennium 2010/2011 were defined this month in Montevideo (Uruguay) withe investment of 651 thousand Euros. According to the coordinator of Internal Subjects of Mercosul, of the Department of Commercial Subjects (DAC/Mapa), Luis Henrique Barbosa the project, financed by the two economical blocks,has the purpose of creating tools to favor the regional sanitary integration and to facilitate the trade of foods. 
 
“We can adopt, for instance, a system of sanitary alert for agricultural products inside of the area and for imported products of third countries”, he explains. The objective, says Barbosa, is to strengthen the preventive politics in the consumer's of Mercosul defense, besides enlarging the access of the products of the block to the markets importers. 
 
Seminars and good practices - Among the foreseen actions it is, still, the accomplishment of 16 seminars on techniques of auditings, risk analyses, administration of the alimentary safety, sanitariums controls in the borders, administration of laboratories and preventive controls of curses. They will also be able to be developed proposed of manuals and guides to standardize, in the area, the sanitary control in the borders, besides creating systems common of inspections in establishments producing of foods.  
 
The small producers will also be benefitted with the project. A proposal of regional manual of Good Agricultural and Cattle Practices will be elaborated, making possible improvement of the production systems and access to the European market of fruits, vegetables and products of animal origin.
