Chemical industry plans to invest US$ 26 billion in Brazil up to 2014

Rising accomplished by the Brazilian Association of the Chemical Industries (Abiquim) with about 800 companies shows that the investments in the sector of chemical products for industrial use up to 2014 can overcome the US$ 26 billion.
In this total, US$ 10,9 billion refer to approved projects that are in process. The projects in study add US$ 11,9 billion and the other programmed investments in maintenance, process of improvements, safety and environment reach US$ 3,3 billion. Those investments can generate about 5,8 thousand of direct jobs.
Rio de Janeiro will receive the largest volume of investments. The application of US$ 9,17 billion is foreseen in the state. Most of those resources is destined to the implantation of the Petro chemical Complex of Rio de Janeiro (Comperj). In Minas Gerais State, the projects add US$ 3,53 billion; in Sao Paulo, the plans of investments arrive US$ 3,14 billion; in Bahia US$ 1,54 billion and in Pernambuco US$ 1,23 billion. The projects without defined location add US$ 3,51 billion.
The programmed investments for the chemical industry can be multiplied next years, reaching US$ 132 billion up to 2020, with the implantation of the National Pact of the Chemical Industry. Released by Abiquim in December in the Annual Encounter of the Chemical Industry, the Pact lists the commitments of the section with the development of the Country and it proposes the adoption of a series of measures by the government. The invigoration of the productive chains, the increase of the application of resources in innovation and technological development, the elevation of the productivity levels and the promotion of the sustainability is some of the commitments assumed by the chemical industry.
The National Pact of the Chemical Industry has as goals puts the section among the larger of the world five up to 2020 and to turn the Country profitable in chemical products and world leader in green chemistry. Abiquim calculates that the application of the Pact will create 2,3 million jobs in the Country.
