Harvest of grains overcomes in more than 4% the previous one
01/12/2010
The fourth rising of the harvest of grains 2009/2010, elaborated by the National Company of Provisioning (Conab) and published, on this Thursday (7), for the minister of the Agriculture, Livestock and Provisioning, Reinhold Stephanes, shows that Brazil will have the second largest production of the history, with volume of 141,35 million tons. The result is 4,6% superior or 6,21 million tons, more than the 135,13 million tons of the previous season. The largest registered crop up to now it is of 144,1 million tons, in 2007/2008.
In relation to the previous month (140,60 million tons), the growth is of 0,53%. The favorable estimate is due to the good climatic conditions happened during the development of the grains (cotton, rice, first harvest bean, first harvest corn and soy) in the months of October to December, and whose planting is practically ended. The increment of the current situation is attributed to the recovery of the farmings of first harvest corn and of the soy, cultures that, in the last harvest, suffered with the drought, mainly in the states of Parana, Rio Grande do Sul and Mato Grosso do Sul.
In the specific case of the soy, the study confirms the oleaginous as the one that more grows at the Country, with 65,16 million tons, 14% or 7,99 million tons more than the 57,17 million tons produced in 2008/2009. If there are not significant alterations in the climate next months, the soy production will be record.
Another culture that registers growth, even with area reduction, it is the bean of first harvest, with increase of 8,3%, or crop of 111,1 thousand tons, result of the recovery of the affected productivity for the drought of last year, especially in Parana State.
On the other hand, the corn present fall (- 3,9% or 1,31 million of tons), the cotton (- 1,2% or 22 thousand tons) and the rice (- 4,6% or 572,3 thousand tons).
Area - the planted total area is calculated in 47,88 million hectares, superior in 0,4% or 208 thousand hectares more than the occupation of the previous cycle. Except the soy, all of the researched cultures accused reduction of area.
The updating of the numbers was accomplished by the technicians of Conab between 14 and December 18, in agreement with information rendered by producers, representatives of cooperatives and rural unions, public and private organs.
