Brazil and Mexico double list of autoparts contemplated in the Economical Complementation 55 Agreement

Brazil and Mexico enlarged for 212 tariff lines the number of autoparts contemplated in the agreement of free trade of the automotive section, in use since the beginning of 2007 between the two countries. Previously, the list contained 108 items.
The trade of the Automotive section between Mexico and the countries of Mercosul-Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay-it is ruled by ACE 55. This agreement is composed of four appendixes that contain the specific negotiations of Mexico with each one of the countries of the block. The appendix that governs the trade between Brazil and Mexico is the Appendix II.
The addition of those 104 tariff lines in ACE 55 will do that a larger number of small companies that integrate the productive chain of the automotive section can enjoy preferences-incidence tariff of 0% of Tax of Import in the commercial changes of Brazilian and Mexican companies - foreseen in the agreement. The Brazilian and Mexican government's objective is to intensify the commercial flow of that products. Before the publication of the Ordinance no. 6.782, the trade of those autoparts was rated, on average, to 16% in Brazil and 15% in Mexico.
The commercial flow between Brazil and Mexico in the section of autoparts has been presenting growing rhythm and the favorable balance to Brazil above US$ 500 million in the last four years.
In 2008, the exports of autoparts from Brazil to Mexico added US$ 879 million and they had growth of 14,3% in relation to 2007. The Brazilian imports of Mexican autoparts were of US$ 241 million (growth of 29,8%). Those actings provided a superavit to Brazil of US$ 638 million.
