France enlarges trade with Brazil

PARIS - not only of art it will be done the Year of France in Brazil, that begins officially today (04/22). A true commercial offensive will be promoted in parallel to the cultural calendar. More than 600 companies were invited by the Elisée Palace to promote the French economy in 40 encounters that will be take place among April and November, gathering the tops of the business world of France and also small and medium companies. The objective is to do the companies of the country move forward at the largest market of Latin America.
The commercial inclination of the Year of France in Brazil is organized by the Ministry of the Economy and for the General office of External Trade, in Paris. The idea is to enlarge the number of companies already established in Brazil - 360, among the ones which 35 of the 40 greater conglomerate, facilitating the access of medium, small and litte companies to markets and Brazilian partners. Until the middle of the year, the minister of the Economy, Christine Lagarde, and the secretary of Commerce, Anne-Marie Idrac, will visit Brazil during official events of the Year of France. In September, president Nicolas Sarkozy returns to Brazil, nine months after his first official trip.
Among the commercial actions in the calendar in 2009 are from fairs for popularization of wine, cosmetics and fashion - France will have special participation in Sao Paulo Fashion Week - even biotechnology, computer science, rail and aeronautical transports and nuclear industry. The French entrepreneurs have an eye on the public investments - especially the Program of Acceleration of the Growth (PAC) -, and in the public-private partnerships (PPP) for the construction of new nuclear power stations, of the high speed train or for the renewal of the squadron of the Brazilian Air force (FAB), for instance. Products as the Airbus and Rafale airplanes, Alstom trains and EPR nuclear reactors made by Areva, will be prominences of the French corteges.
"Brazil is noticed as a nice and pleasant place, but don't a country for businesses. We want to change this image", told the ambassador Christophe Lecourtier, general director of the French Agency for the International Development of the Companies (Ubifrance) and president of Administrative Council of the Chamber of Commerce of Brazil in France. "Up to 2010, we want bend the number of French companies that visit Brazil, enough to 1,2 thousand. The new entrepreneurs that will discover and to do businesses."
The commercial offensive of the Year of France follows the model of the action accomplished in November of 2008, when 120 entrepreneurs accompanied Christine Lagarde to the country, on the eve of the ministerial meeting of G20. Of the total of companies, a third, says Lecourtier, celebrated contracts, found partners and gave beginning on business in the country. We "want to show our savoir-faire to the Brazilians and demonstrate to French that Brazil became a decisive actor in the world", said Lecourtier. It is "necessary to leave the clichés."
This interests is because the consuming market in expansion in Brazil - the French government evaluates in 100 million the potential consumers' contingent in the Country. Besides, the evolution of the numbers of the bilateral trade generates optimism in the French business ambient. Although still shy - France is the eighth economical partner of Brazil, while Brazil is the 21o of France -, the changes between these two countries increased 135% in the last five years. Last year, the negotiated volume was 7,49 billion, a historical record, with growth of 12,8% in the year. The balance continues favorable to Brazil: 448 million.
